JOB LOCATION: Gauteng

REPORTS TO: National Board

SUMMARY OF EXECUTIVE OPPORTUNITY:

The Chief Executive Officer is tasked with transforming the existing organisation by establishing an appropriate executive capability and overseeing all executive, financial, operational and administrative functions of the organisation. This critical task has to be undertaken without any negative impact on the volunteer corps and largely working with volunteers. Further, the Chief Executive Officer will be tasked with raising funding to ensure that the budget for running an effective, compliant and credible NGO is maintained. Particular emphasis will be on ensuring the effective overall direction, operations, performance and long term sustainability of the organisation, as well as developing and executing core programmes and financial strategies that lead to the sustainability of the organisation. The Chief Executive Officer will provide strategic and operational support to the Board and lead the executive team in identifying and achieving key strategic goals for the organisation

 

KEY EXECUTIVE ATTRIBUTES REQUIRED:

  • Must hold a Bachelor’s degree
  • At least ten to fifteen years of post-qualifying experience and should currently be in a General Management or similar executive role for at least five years’ within a similar sized NGO or business
  • A track record in transforming an organisation is essential as well as experience in business improvement initiatives
  • Strong fundraising track record
  • A track record of influencing others, networking, building relationships and opening doors to foster support
  • Experience in working with the media
  • Strong commitment to ethics and good governance and a thorough knowledge of King IV™ in terms of its relevance to the NGO sector
